An Inspirational Tale from Florida Dreamin 2018

I worked around cars for 33 years. I watched my daughter find her calling in the Salesforce ecosystem. Her finding success at the birth of her professional life was inspiring.
Last year I found that my position was to be eliminated. I had some time so I thought I'd go to Florida Dreamin. Kristin and the leadership team had put a lot of effort into it. And just like I used to watch her soccer games, I wanted to see this.
I talked to many people that day. Didn't meet anyone I wouldn't drink a beer with. But the icing on the cake was lunch. I randomly sat down next to John Lay. And I learned what a valuable tool Trailhead could be. That lunch made my decision. I would stop making my living on cars and try and do something sustainable and fun.
I quit the car business in November 2018. I started my professional metamorphosis on Trailhead. I found I was eligible by virtue of marriage for Vetforce. I did the work, I was able to attend an instructor led class. I passed my admin exam in February 2019. I continued to learn using Trailhead. Between superbadges and an instructor led advanced admin class I was feeling salty. But the job search was tough.
I kept my faith and kept at it. Then John Lay posted for an IT business analyst. We connected again. And now I have probably the best job I ever had.
Florida Dreamin was the launch pad. I hope to enjoy many years of success in the Salesforce ecosystem.
